Hello everyone.
I have some blatant marketing questions for you.
Some may remember a while back I was interested in moving my company into the alternative energy sector and out of the evil poluting feild that it is in now (Power generation using fossil feuls).

I have some questions:-

Would you be interested if my company developed a stand alone unit that used "alternative" energy sources to power your aquarium/pond?

For those of you that know or can work it out, what is the average power consumption and the peak power consumption your aquarium/pond uses per hour?

What is the maximum size that such a unit could be for the average owner (i.e how much space would you be happy for it to take up?)

How many of you have thought of or are worried that you may have to give up keeping fish as a result of rocketing feul and energy prices?

Although not UK based, I might be interested in a cheap source of energy, however, if I dont use electricity from the common cource, I would need to make it somehow

Thus, I wonder, out of what do you suppose to make the electricity, Matt?

I got 30 tanks, thus far over 30 TL lights (each 36 watt) alight for 12 hours a day. That is, a 3 or 4 kwh continously plant would not be too large for me

What it my cost? I'd want to earn the cost back in say 5 years
How large it may be? Say 1 cubic meter (that is, some 30 cubic feet)
How noisy? almost no noise (I have neighbours on both sides, my yard measures 5 meters across)

It would be silent.
As to the other questions, the answers are the purpose of my post.

It would be interesting. There are solar units out there for ponds. It would be good to convert all this for indoor use.

A combination of solar produced electricity, solar heated water and hydrogen/oxygen fuel cells combined with greater utilization of high intensity LED lighting may be common in the future. Making fish rooms and households have a much reduced dependence on electricity off the national grid is almost inevitable in the future.

On the point of solar heated water Larry, I have been mulling the idea over in my head especially for my biggest tank.
