hi there,

i have a trio of C121 2m/1f and they are trying to spawn as i type, female is very gravid and clasping her fins together waiting for the eggs to drop, im a bit concerned however that she is getting too much attention from having 2 males chase her, should i remove one of these males and just let the pair get it on or is it good to have the 2 males pester her? many thanks

Generally accepted methods for breeding cories is 2M + 1F, so I would think that applies to C121 too.

hi, me again.

sorry to be a pain but they are laying eggs now, i have 3 queen arabesque L260 in the same tank as the C121, will the eggs be ok with just the plecs in there? she seems to be laying them very close to the surface of the water so are not really in the plecs comfort zone but i dont want the eggs to be eaten but also the plecs are showing signs of wanting to breed too. your advice is appreciated

I personally would put the eggs in a net in the same tank. You can usually gently roll the eggs onto your fingers, but I've read people recommend a razor-blade to remove them from the glass.

just done, put 20 in a breeding trap and if the rest survive then thats a bonus, will the parents predate on the young once they have hatched and free swimming?

Some corys have been know eat their young. I'd keep them in the breeding net for a couple of weeks at least.

Did you try dropping methylene blue? This method come in handy. And if you put an air stone into your tank, you wont encounter this problem.
Good luck!
