I'm trying to find information on a 'golden flathead cat'.
I've found it listed at both Gnathobagrus depressus and Amarginops depressus. all i've found so far is it's in the Bagridae family.
does anyone have any info on this fish? does it have a new name?

I am not sure that this fish has been seen outside of the original description. So the answer to your second question would be “no”.

Would it be in the Claroteidae now, rather than the Bagridae?

That's what Fishbase say. COF doesn't rename it to Amarginops (yet), and Ferraris checklist also has it as Gnathobagrus.
