I was watching a programme last night on TV and it was about the D.R.C. CONGO ,

since 1998 there have been 4 million people who have died in the tribul wars there making it the highest loss of life since the second world war ,
also the largest number of UN troops are based in the congo region trying to keep the peace.

the average age of an adult man in the congo is 42,
and 6 out of 10 children die before they are 5 years old ,

i think this explains why there are very few syno cats from this area and really does put things into prospective when we sit and think about life in our safe homes .

Yeah I've heard some horror stories about the Congo. Africa is a messed up continent all together. Basicaly it's land and people have been raped and pillaged for centuries. Personaly I'd like to visit lake Tanganyika but it's expensive. I've been told a trip could cost between $5,000 and $7000. Also there are some cool national parks in the area. I've read that fish collectors that go into the Congo have to pay huge bribes just to get in there and dive.

Did you know that in parts of Africa that if you find a diamond on your own property you can't own it or sell it because it leagaly belongs to Debeers.

If I go digging in my garden, after 4 feet I need a permit. This permit will most likely not be granted ,because I'm not an archaeologist. However, if I ignore this, and find something valuable really deep, it will be state probperty, as I only own the upper layer

So, I'm not surprised elsewhere one is not onwer of what one finds
