How much can one of these greedy b*****ds eat? I've got one that hogs all the food and I'm worried he'll burst! He's got a gut that looks a lot like the swollen belly pic of the P.granulosus in the cat-eLog. Is there a risk that he's eaten enough to burst?

No he wont burst but when you see that your dorads belly is swollen you should not feed him until it comes back to normal.In the wild dorads eat a lot at once and then they dont eat until theirs belly comes back to normal.Pimelodids do the same.If you feed your platydoras costatus this way he would grow quite fast.Mine grew from 3cm to 15 within six month but now has slow down

He is not fat.He is normal.When i saw that his growth slowed down i stoped feeding him so much but when he was a juvenile he metabolised all the food to growth.He never had a so swollen belly.Look at my gallery.The pictures was taken before 9 months after his feeding.After a normal feeding i was feeding him again after a week.

My cat's quite a bit fatter though, at least he was yesterday. Any tips on how I can avoid feeding him and getting food to my anadorus grypus?

How large is your tank?How large is your P. costatus and your anadorus grypus?When your anadorus ate last time?

The tank is a jewel trigon 190 (190 litres) about 50 US gallons and the costatus is, I think, about 7 or 8 cm. the anadorus is so far the biggest fish in the tank at a massive 13 cm or so. I haven't actually had the opportunity to measure them properly so I've had to guess. The fishes are probably a bit smaller than my estimate at the moment. The costatus is significantly smaller that the anadorus though. Chances are that it's not quite used to the tank yet.

The easiest way to make anadorus grypus to eat before the raphael is to feed only the P.c. for three days.After these days spread bloodworms to the opposite tank corners.This would give to both fish a good opportunity to eat well.
