Hi All,

Tomorrow I will drive to UK, to spend some time in my family in law.
I will be located in Parbold, closed to Wigan, and I expect to see some "fishy" places of interest!

As far I understood, there are Pier Aquatics in Wigan and Britains Aquatic Superstore Ltd in Bolton.

Are there any other good place in this area, or people willing to have a chat in front of a fish tank (unfortunately not mine as they will stay in France!) and a beer?

If you get them on good days (and by that I mean stock is reasonably high), between those two shops, I do not think you will need a third... You might also want to check when the catfish study group are meeting as they are in the area too.

Matien - i'd love to be there but my injury means i cannot make it

As Jools says - i think Pier & BAS will provide you with loads to see - there are other smaller shops in the area but if i'm up that way i concentrate on these two.

Last year I visited both shops with Jools in about 2 hours - which was about 4 hours too short

Whilst it is not on the scale of Pier and BAS, nor having any large amounts or variety of catfish, the Wigan branch of Maidenhead Aquatics is really nowhere near Wigan and is actually right next to Parbold. Whilst probably not worth a special trip you are so close to it if you need an excuse to get out for half and hour it is about only 2km up the road if that. It is reasonably new and does seem to have more fish every time I pop in, they do have a good amount of tanks.

I have attempted to attach a Google map and the red cross marks the spot. Its in the garden centre opposite the BP garage which is just before you get to the motorway junction.

depending if you've got time an interesting small shop is aqualife situated in wyevale garden centre just outside leyland, they've normally got a good range of L no's and corys plus a few different things(some brachyramdia imitators last week),
sorry can't supply a map but willing to give directions, tel number etc if needed.

So, I had the opportunity to go to maidenhead aquatics yesterday as it was really close to parbold. I was already impressed as it is really clean and already a good size! It is basically bigger than what i use to see in France, and closer in size and quality of what I have seen in Germany.
The current stock was already interesting, with several corys and L numbers. It was some Queen Arabesque for 20£
I have a couple of pictures I will share when I will be back in France, but they are not the best quality... I may have to go back with the right camera.

The plan for the next days is to go and visit at least Wigan Pier on thursday, and go to bolton or leyland on saturday (if not done thursday)

I will let you know what I will have seen!

I unfortunately can not make a visit to the CSG tomorow... That would become a family issue.
