Right about 3", of the three , one has larger spots and two have smaller. It seems like more white spotting in real life.

Thanks - that was quick!

I didn't really see the "nose" that I have seen on vampires before but I'll take another look.

It doesn't look like a L. galaxias to me. The shape of the head to too different. It looks more like a "Snowball" pleco or Hypancistrus inspector

Do you have a profile shot of it's head, all Leporacanthicus have a distinctive horny dermal scute on the top of the head, about 1/3 of the way to the eyes from the front of the dorasl fin. Does the fish in question have this?

Sincerely,
Paul E. Turley[/i]

Paul is correct. This is L 201 or H. inspector. There is a thread on this fish somewhere around here...
BTW. Paul, happy to see you here and I hope all is well with you and yours.

HI!

Yeap Hypancistrus inspector...
And to add a bit I can even tell you that it is a male...
Just go and pick up a female...
Cheers

Nah, think it's an H. inspector. L. galaxias at this size shouldn't show spines on the pectorals. In addition the little bone "unicorn horn" that all Leporacanthicus spp. have slightly protruding from the top of their heads (about half way back along the head) is not present.

I already answered this on another board but might as well here too. I'll concur w/ L201 and take it a step further, I think the two smaller spot ones are males (you can obviously see heavy odontal growth on the leading edge of the pectorals and between the dorsal and tail) and the larger spot I'll assume is a female as it looks "plump" (very technical term  ) through its midsection and doesn't seem to have the same amount of odontal growth.

Paul, you coming to MN this year, and more specifically to any MAS meetings? And is the OCA extravaganza happening, I haven't heard anything about it this year?

Cartman,

C'mon - that's a clear offtopic post. Can you use a PM or the "speak easy" for this sort of thing?

Cheers,

Jools
