I have a group of 11 but 1 looks like he is spotted different on the head then the rest, looks like his spots are about the same size on the head as on the body, the rest have smaller dots on head then their bodies. These are the best pictures i could get they swim too fast sorry about the crappy pics.

The 2nd, 4th & 5th photos where there is one fish in the shot are Lucipinnis.

In photo 1 the fish behing the other looks to have a finely spotted head which may be a petricola but the body is out-of-focus so i can't be sure. is this what you were referring to?

the larger darker elongated fish look like the big spot variety of the true petricola to me

btw.....they can and do crossbreed and give lively offspring. seen it happen, had to destroy a few batches myself.

I see a breeding contraption and I'd separate them if I were you.
plenty hybrids on planet Syno already, unfortunately.

Yea the one that is a blur looks like all the rest pretty much, the one in question was the one syno in front of the blur. He is the same one in pic 2 and pic 3 he is peeking out of the bowl on the right side. Thanks for the replies hopefully i can get a couple more picutres of him.

with the last pics it looks like, indeed

just checked my pix of my old petricola group (i haven't got them anymore) and true petricola have a finely spotted head.
much more contrasted to the body than lucipinnis.
