I'm pretty sure it's a re-run, as one of my colleagues was talking about it some time ago.

I'll try to remember to record it on Sky + (as I usually miss things that I don't set up a recording for - that what comes with having two young kids! :().

Seems like they are really milking the whole "monster" catfish thing but should be interesting nonetheless

Lucky for you they got the dates wrong on the PFK website.

Its actually on on the 21st rather than the 14th.

It is also repeated I think on Sunday 26th at 11am.

Impressive beast.

The name applies to this population from Northern India/Nepal right :?:

What's going on with the taxonomy of this genus at the moment Silurus :?:

Did anybody else watch this? It was quite good fun, somewhat less than scientific, but it was interesting to see the Bagaraius in their natural habitat, and seeing them out of the water really gave a sense of what a huge and impressive fish this is. Also, is this fish definitely B. Yarrelli? I remember reading somewhere about the likelihood of their being other, unclassified, large Bagarius sp. populations in the northern India/Nepal area. Aside from the obvious fact that the Bagarius in the program were larger than is (apparently) expected for yarrelli, though this could just be due to poor knowledge of the species I suppose.

That fish in the picture looks about 1.5m long, which is the known size in the Cat-eLog.
