Hi, This fish is only 4inch but has allready had fry and eats algea like a machine surely its not a common plec? can you help?

you're in luck; they don't grow much bigger. you can keep it in almost any tanksize.

common Plecs almost reach 2 feet and outgrow most hometanks; these do not.
and they can and do reach 20 years in captivity and feed on algae till the last day.....
