Hi,

based on the odontodes present on the rim of the snout, it should be either Guayanancistrus or Hopliancistrus (Lasiancistrus does not fit). Unfortunately, the odontodes behind the gill cover are not visible. Is a bunch or just around three (that´s the easiest way to distinguish them: Guyanancistrus has a bunch, Hopliancistrus just three)? That said, I would tentatively ID it as a Guyanancistrus, possibly L 317.

Cheers, Sandor

Hi Sandor
Thanks for the ID.I stumble across L259 in Aqualog...looks quite like my fish.Any possibility it's L259?
I thought the Guayanancistrus pics in PC and Aqualog shows a darker gray colour body.
cheers,
Mark

Was this imported from Brazil or Colombia?

I don't believe your fish is an L259 as these are quite flattened in profile. Your fish has a much higher form.
