I just got two of these last week. They are 8-9 inches. one has a larger secondary dorsal fin than the other.
Is that how you sex them?
If so which is which?
Also, will they breed in captivity if I do have a male and female?

I tried to conduct a search in the forums on this site and nothing came up...

Here's some pictures, sorry they're the best I could get....

Very interesting, are you 100% confident? These guys were rescues and I need to know exactly what I've got. Do you think you could tell me what they're worth?

Yeah pretty much. The adipose fin gives it away, together with head shape, pattern etc. Sexing is primarlily done with the genital papillae, together with other things like finnage (not adipose), body shape when specimens are mature.

As for worth... any fish is only worth what someone is willing to pay - also you are in the wrong country for me to really comment on. I have seen mature specimens of both these in the UK for as little as £15 but as much as £40, maybe other people have seen them cheaper or more expensive over here?

For confirmation Richard is quite right on these ones as far as identification
