That species did come my mind at first but after a closer look at those spots on the side, it seem to match Platysilurus mucosus or Platysilurus malarmo.
but then again, I am just guessing here.

i thought that too but those Duopalatinus i've seen were quite variable, depending on size - that is of course presuming they were correctly identified in the first place

As per usual, Silurus might have an informed opinion but i think he's a bit preoccupied with being a new dad amongst other things...

Got this respond on another board.
"According to the book "Pecos del medio Amazonas Region de Leticia" the picture on page 500 looks , by the markings, like Platysilurus mucosus There is a piece of text on this species, but it is in Spanish."
Any other opinion ?
Thanks
ben

Blimey - that's one long pair of barbels!
Nice fish - any idea on adult size? What is it feeding on?

Does it appear skittish if, when in a tank, its barbels are always touching tank walls (as it has such extended barbels)as in, some individuals of, Leiarius, Platystomatichthys etc ?

It behaves pretty much like a lima cat.
This is what you get when light off

Strangely from the initial photos i took it to be a bit bigger than that

(guess i should have sussed it from the substrate particle size)
