Synodontis melanosticta = Synodontis nigromaculata?

I have the feeling that Synodontis nigromaculata is now a synonym of Synodontis melanosticta.

Ferraris Checklist of Catfish-2007 has S.melanosticta as a synonym of S.nigromaculata as does fishbase currently.
Seegers-2008 has them as separate species in his book.
Both species have their own data page here on PC.
(as you can see I am trying to clear up some of the African based posts in this forum)
