My local petco generally has a pretty terrible selection. Some rainbowfish, a ton of guppies, a ton of sad looking bettas, a ton of various goldfish and Koi, a ton of overly aggressive cichilids, a ton of common plecos in tanks too small for them, a ton of chinese algae eaters. . . and only three species of callichthyidae. Julii, Brochis Splendens, and "albino" most likely aenus. I mostly go to Petco to buy food and filters, but the last time I went I noticed that they had some very healthy, very large looking Brochis in. Now I thought my Brochis were large, but the ones they're selling are about twice as big. (Can't really get a good measurement; they're very active.) I suspect that they're actually Multiradius, as their noses are longer than my Splendens, and they're so large, but they won't raise their fins long enough for me to count the rays.

*sigh*

Currently I have 6 in my quarentine tank, and next week they'll be moving in to my 90 gallon.

You can bet your bottom dollar that the C. julii they are touting are actually farm-raised C. trilineatus. - Frank

's what I suspected, mostly since they didn't look like the julii I received from my local indie store. (which even lists the river they were collected from.)

When I went to my petco last week in search of driftwood (which I found), they had albinos, peppered, c. trillineatus (mislabeled as jullis) and what they called brochis splendens...the one that I could see up close was C. aneus and the others were small, inactive, and not very happy looking. Of course, they keep SALT in with them. *sigh*

My petsmart actually gets good looking b splendens in (although small).
