WTB Double tank Stand (Holds 2x 55 gallon tanks) USA

Hello Again,

I am looking for a stand that will hold two 55 gallon tanks (stacked.) It can be metal, it can be wood, I don't know and really do not care. My goal is to have my 33 gallon XL ontop, and a 55 gallon on the bottom. The stand should hold two tanks (48x12). I would prefer local pickup, but if there is one unassembled, then I would be willing to pay for shipping.

Thanks Again For Your Help,

NV

How good are you at DIY, and is it meant for your front room, or a less "public" room?

If you aren't completely ham-fisted with your DIY, building a rack for two 55g tanks (or thereabouts) isn't particularly hard. You need a few pieces of 2"x4" timber and (part of) a sheet of 3/4" plywood. The plywood will be the expensive part - here a 8'x4' sheet is about 25-30 pounds, not sure what that translates to in dollars, nor how much these things cost over there.

You will of course also need a few screws, a saw (preferrably a mitre-saw to make good, precise cuts).

Thanks Mats for the reply, and I have considered it, but it is for my living room, so preferablly something with a little more appeal. Oh, and when it comes to DIY, I can make DIY backgrounds for tanganyikan/malawi tanks, but I cannot hammer a nail to save my backside. My fiance could do it, but then I would have to invest into the "nice vanier (think that is what it is called)" thin wood to try to make it look better on the outside. If I am not able to find one in the next month or so, I will ask if my father or soon to be father in law could make me one.
