Feeding advice for my new fish

Hello,

Finaly I have my precious pleco's at home :D
They are L134, L66 and L333. They are all breeding groups and are lent to me to learn about breeding these beautiful fish.
I have only got experience with corydoras and have much to learn about keeping pleco's.

For now my biggest question is how to feed them correctly. I read they are all carnivors, except maybe the L134, he will eat greens as well. I would like to give them home made food but I can't find any recepies. Could some one tell me how to prepare my own food or tell me were I can find recepies? Please

And I would like to know what is the best dried pellets to give them. I now have OSI shrimp pellets wich I use for my cory's. Is this also good for my pleco's?

Thanks!
Jacqueline

Yes, L134 is more of an omnivore than the Hypancistrus species, which are carnivores in the main.

Have a look at my article (link on the right of this post) on feeding for ideas.

Whatever you decide - try & offer a variety of foods.

Mike_Noren has an excellent home made suggestion which is ideal for L Numbers- i'll see if i can find the link - or you could PM him

You can vary Mike's recipe to suit your own design - i have used powdered earthworm flakes, powdered crab & krill pellets & defrosted frozen peas in the egg mix for my synos. You can add whatever you want to suit your fishes requirements. Mike posted this in another thread somewhere - i think it was called "floating mushrooms". Loads of people have their own special home-made recipes but standard perpared products are also fine.

If you are trying to condition corys for breeding - i'd up the protein content of their diet - bloodworms, tetradelica, finely shredded earthworms, frozen live foods etc

Hi,

Thanks a lot for all your reply's :D
Richard and Mats, I have read the articles. They have been a great help  I've got lots of ideas and will make my own food.

I have fed them frozen chopped mussles last night and they loved it. It was all gone this morning

Greets Jacqueline :D
