Seriously, I wouldn't even add one to my pond I have. they are monsterous fish that need a lot of room and filtration. I mean I have caught a channel cat in the river I fish at that was 46"+, would you want that just sitting in your bath tub and not able to move? Honestly I think that is animal cruelty and should not be attempted at any cost.

You would need to have some way of dechlorinating the water as it is constantly being replenished. And then there's the size of your water bill, and how will you bathe yourself? You'll start to smell.

If you do attempt it, don't add a rubber ducky, because the catfish might try to swallow it.

I have seen bathtubs used quite effectively as garden ponds with pondpumps for circulating water, but for a channel cat??? Methinks no-way is this a good idea

*Hmmmm i see a common thread running through the replies......

I suppose is your bath tub is big enough to fit hippos/elephants/small boats in it then it might work :)

The bathtub would be nice for some other, smaller catfish like cories, plecs, and the like, but for something that's RTC-Grade?

You'd better get a pond for that one.

As a kid my brother and I brought home a couple of 20" Channel Cats caught on a night fishing trip and put them in our horses' watering trough. Our outdoor water was on a separate system of filtered but non-chlorinated water. There was a constant flow to the trough.
They were fine for over year and we fed them mostly large night crawler worms. The running water prevented the trough from freezing over. They would take the worms from our fingers. We also had a couple of 12 inch Small Mouthed Bass.
