My new 55 gallon tank seems to have a blue theme to it. Every non-bottom fish in the tank is blue or neon blue. (or will be when I finish stocking it.) I am curious if there are any blue species of cory?

they're as blue as it gets in Corydoras! sometimes they're more greenish than blue though.

But really blue isn't exactly "the most popular colour" amongst corys. They tend to be mostly brown, black and white, with some that are multicolour shiny (e.g. C. aeneus).

The only C. concolor I've ever seen where in Dave Rinaldo's tanks. Nice fish if you can get them, but they are not common in the trade.

It may be better/easier to find something that is more of a "suitable contrast" to the colour you have.

I've seen C. concolor on multiple occasions in shops here in Holland, so if you search for them, i'm pretty sure you will find them.

Apparently they come in different colors, ranging from green with orange caudal fins to overall brown/blue.

I found an online store that has them as part of regular inventory. . . sold out.

Also the blue tetra and green neon tetras I want. Sold out.

Any small blue plecos?

The only Cory that is really considered as being blue is Corydoras nattereri.

There are one or tow with some blue in parts of their body pattern, such as Corydoras similis and C66.

For some actual content, if you can find some good blue "Blue Phantom pleco" that would probably also match. However, many found in this country are more blueish green than blue. [Mine certainly are - they are pretty, but not blue].

i feel the need to point out that both the Baryancistrus beggini and the Hemiancistrus sp. L128 aren't the most easiest to keep pleco's, especially the former is IMO only suitable for the very experienced aquarists!

I'm having pretty good luck finding fish for this tank so far. One of my nicer local LFS had a bunch of Botia Striata mislabeled as green tiger loaches, and mispriced. I bought out the lot. ($3.50 each. Online the loaches are double that.) Unfortunately the blue loaches out there seem to be aggressive. (They also had redfinned blue loaches, but I honestly don't want aggressive fish in my tank.)

I would avoid putting any of the Botia type Loaches with Corys, they compete for food in the same areas of the tank and are often quite aggressive towards anything that comes into their domain.

They are also well equipped to cause damage to other competing tank mates with their sickle shaped bony blades that they have situated in groves beneath their eyes. These blades are very sharp and can be locked at a 90 angle to the body forming impressive weapons.
