Hi, I'm new to posting. I have used the site many times and use it as a bible. I think the Cat e log is absolutely wonderful and have gleaned a mass of information from it.
I would like to know if anyone has heard of a Tiffiny Whiptail. I saw some in a local shop yesterday, no scientific name though. They look really nice but would like some info on them as I would like to add them to my collection.
Many Thanks
Nick

i think i've seen that common name "tiffany" applied to something resembling pseudohemiodon - certainly a sp with thick dark band or two across the body
Welcome to Planet Catfish BTW

Hi . Thanks for the welcomes and the suggestion.
I looked up
Rhineloricaria teffeana but it didn't seem quite right so followed the suggestion of
Loricana simillima and this seems more likely as they were a good six inches and had very large mouth fronds. Looks like I'll be adding these to the collection at the weekend.

This name is usually applied to
rather illogically! Welcome along!

That's the one Jools - specifically ones resembling image 3 & 5 - at least IME.

They look exactly like the one in Pic 3. I am going to put them in a 36x15x12 aquarium which has been running for nine months containing 40 cardinal tetras and 7 marbled hatchet fish. Zero Nitrate/Nitrate PH 7.2. Any tips on feeding would be most appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like a suitable fish for your tank.
Feeding: I'd expect it to be similar to other Loricaria and similar to Rineloricaria - small insects and larvae, crustaceans and such, rather than algae or vegetable matter. Probably also "aufwuchs".
Is Ely the place near Cambridge? I was at the motocross track there some time ago. Since this is an international forum, it would help others if you add at least England or UK to your location (you can edit your location under User Control Panel).
