What is Maracyn Plus

Hi, I went looking for some antifungal stuff for my platy's. stress and things caused them to get big pale patches on them. i keep a clown plec, an unkown cory, 4 glass cats, and 3 platys. i did a pile of research on the best fungus medicines and through it all i was led to believe try Maracyn 1 for a bit, and if it didnt fix it, then try maracyn 2. if that didnt fix it, then the fish would die. little exaggerated but hey, its the easiest.
SO
went to the store, found a pile of meds, natural, unnatural, plant killers, fish killers, and MaracynPlus! no maracyn 1 or 2, just plus. Now, theres gram neg bacterias and gram positives. im assuming you cant just make a pert plus 2 in 1 medicine for them but if you can, is that what this maracyn plus is?
second question... does it work?
on previous infections in the tank, lost 3 glass cats, and the original clown plec that came with the tank. loved that fish. and lost a platy fry baby. 2 glass cats and clown plec and the platy fry were all around the same time, the other glass cat was either a few weeks prior or later.
tried tea tree oil, useless, tried salt, useless, fish died, tried api fungus cure green packets, seems to have saved the two adult platys but almost destroyed the other glass cats. they lost all of the barbels, almost all the fins, and looked like crap. im guessing either massive finrot that they all got at the same time or the meds bodyslammed them into the concrete. they have all recovered now but it took months for the fins and barbels to grow back.
This maracyn plus is apparently safe for biofilter and can be used in established tanks without removing charcoal and seems to be a perfect cure for todays fishworld. sounds "fishy"
any ideas on this stuff?
