Hi,
I am taking my dad and girlfriend fishing to one of several paylakes that stock farm raised catfish. I have never had much luck here though it seems everyone else around me does. Is there a trick I'm missing? I use the same bait as everyone else. It must be a location or depth issue. Is there any advice you can offer that would improve my luck? Thanks.

This site is much more about keeping fish in aquarium than catching them with a rod and hook, so there may be better web-sites for advice on catching fish in this way, but in general, success in catching fish is like most other things to do with fish-success: Understand it's natural behaviour, and you are pretty much there. So find out what the fish likes (where it hides, what it looks for when feeding), and you should have more success.

If night fishing is allowed you will get much more action. Just attach a small bell to the tip of your rod and wait for it to begin to jingle.
Baits that work well are a large gob of large night crawlers or shelled shrimp.
