Liosomadoras oncinus spawning report.

I do not have the jags in my apartment, so I have no idea how they actually spawned. I kept them in a 240 gallon tank that was 30% driftwood and jungle vals completely covering the top. There were also large anubias and swords in the tank as well for plants with some water hycian. I used local caught minnows, some small (around 1") crayfish along with earthworms as the staple foods for these fish. I know my father had done a 45% waterchange with rainwater (which was a huge chore due to us having collector containers on every downspout of the house to gather that much water.) I know the water is around 6.5 ph on a regular basis and the water temp when not having large water changes is around 74 degrees. I am still probing my parents to stay on the watch for the babies in the tank and take pictures, but the adults are now in the heated outdoor pond ( around 2000 gallons and heated.) The two fry are being kept with some and .

For Jools, I am working so hard on getting the pictures, I just don't have a lot of time to make it back home where the fish are being kept :(

What was the size of the adults at the time and was there only a pair in the tank?

Good luck on continued efforts with these.

There is a group of 7 adults currently, all ranging from 4-6.5". I am in the process (should be ordered this weekend now) of getting another 5.

Thanks for the good luck :)

nvcichlids where did you get your new jaguars from? Feel free to email me off list, I tried to PM you earlier this week.

I just got word from the company I am getting my additional jag's from. they will be 2-4" ... if that is large, that scares me lol... Anyways, the guy is extremely knowledgeable about the fish, so I am sure I am getting the correct species. Looks like I will grow them out in a smaller tank to start just to get them started then move them to the 240. I am also ordering a trio of apistogramma panduro.

Edit: Well it looks like the company tripled its price the day I want to order. My balzani sale went through and I am a little frustrated with everything right now. I will post a new posting in the for sale section of everything I have for sale.

I'd really appreciate anything - fry shots would be the event of the month or perhaps year.

Wow, good stuff, I knew it would happen soon.
Any more details on parameters?
What was the water flow like?

My liosomadoras morrowi mate fairly regularly but it has never come to anything or eggs/fry have been eaten.
Your set up sounds similar to mine as mine live in a tank that is about 40% bogwood however no plants.
I think this may be the key to it. The problem is my spotted silver dollars are too nice to pass on and I have no tank to put them in. :( they strip any plants I put in there very quickly.
