Hi there, hope someone could give me a clue as to this little cat. I bought it a while ago for a couple of quid as they were pretty cute. I knew they were synos but they have grown pretty quickly.

The closest I have is ornatipinnis but i know that these can be tricky with all the hybrids. Any help would be great, thanks

Looks pretty close to to me, would only say the face doesn't look quite right, but it might just be the photo.
If it is genuine, nice find for a 'couple of quid'.

This looks typical of the hybrids being offered for sale as genuine ornatipinnis - the body looks stumpy & deformed & the genuine thing would cost more than a couple of quid - the head looks blunt & the tail looks small & deformed.

I think the false body shape is due to a camera angle. I have had to cut the image down in order for this site to accept it. Thanks a lot guys, if I were to put my money on it, it would be an ornatipinnis.

I'd suggest trying to get some better pictures, with the amount of hybrids out there for sale, I certainly wouldn't bet anything on it being genuine.
It does look similar, but as Richard says, the body is not the usual slender one you see on genuine, but without better photos, we can't be sure.

I will put my money on hybrid. Real ornatipinnis is much slender and elongate than this one, any other angle wouldn't correct that issue. And snout is way too short. This one is one of those "failed" products from some of those ornatipinnis fabrics, I have seen much better attempts but still not the genuine one.

I know that the synos are difficult and I suppose I was optomistic but they are nice fish anyway. I will keep them for a while and see how they do!

Probably need to post in the for sale section for that one, and it would help if you give L-number or scientific name, as well as size and price. Don't forget to put your location (Wales) in the title to avoid people who can't get it anyways from getting overly excited.
