featherfin syno & common pleco

Hi.
My neighbour has given me her feather fin syno as her tank was leaking. I have a common pleco in my tank. The 2 were ok when we put them in together (no fighting etc), they would like next to each other on the bottom of the tank. We have had them together now for almost 3 weeks. The feather fin syno is now getting a very fat tummy. Do you think it is possible that the syno and the pleco have mated and that the reason the syno is now so fat is that "it" is going to lay eggs?

That is so not happening.

As Silurus says - not a chance of this, ever, no not at all.

The syno has (as they do) just eaten as much as possible :P

Aside from other reasons why this won't happen: Neither of these fish have internal fertilization, as for both Synos and plecos the female lay eggs that are fertilized by the male spreading milt (sperms) onto the eggs.

So, yes, they Syno probably did what they normally do: eat a lot. They can look like they swallowed a golf-ball (or several golf balls if they are large fish).

I'm sure the breeders in the Czech Republic are working on it, though. :D
