To catch a pleco

I have 2 plecos in my pond, and will need to remove them in September before it becomes to cold for them outside. I rarely, if ever, see them so I was wondering what the best way to capture them would be.

Have any hidey holes for the cats? Best way would be to trap them in there and lift the whole structure out.

I assume what you are saying is that I should get a piece of pvc, hope he climbs in, and lift out?

Don't you have any other structures (e.g. flower pot) that can be used this way in the tank? If not, I suppose the PVC pipe will do.
