I've acquired 2 male and 2 female Megalechis picta a few months ago and have been trying to get them to breed. They have grown to adult size and have been eating really well until lately. It's obvious that the females are ripe with roe but I have only seen a few bubbles under an ice cream pail lid. The male's attempts at a proper bubblenest have resulted in only a few bubbles under the ice cream pail lid I put in their tank as a possible nest site. I have extensive experience breeding M.thoracatum and C. callichthys but am at my wits' end, and would appreciate any information that I could glean from anyone on this august web-site in terms of a spawning trigger or anything else leading to spawning success. Yes, but I knew there was a thread somewhere because I remembered it. I think Vicky was asking for more info from others who'd bred them, but didn't get any replies- from what I can remember of what was posted on our local aquarist society's site (www.svas.co.uk) I think she'd had them for years before they bred, then they suddenly bred when Vicky and her husband had a mix-up on water changes and both thought the other had done that tank.
