Question about petricola eggs / wigglers

Does anyone know if the petricola eggs / wigglers / fry are light sensitive?
In order to conserve energy, I have been collecting eggs/wigglers and putting them in a floating container in my main tank with a gentle flow of air. This saves adding a tank with a heater to an already too high electric bill. On the day that the wigglers have used up their egg sac I start feeding finely crushed flake food and BBS. I get very few survivors only one or two per batch, and I am wondering if this is because of the direct light over them. I have heard that some synodontis fry are light sensitive and that is why I am asking this. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bill
