Thanks Marc - I guessed a male too. I don't know - it's not my picture (though I do have the OK to post it).
Was offered some T.galaxias, but when checking, they turned out to be T.intermedia (picture confirmed it). They are in with some C.perugiae, so it may be one of those. Am looking for some small auchenipterids for the 30" tank once all the other fish (with the exception of the
) have been moved over, and these came up. I will probably have the perugiae, though it appears that I can get some T.galaxias (I called and the shop confirmed they are black, with white spots) so may well pay that shop a visit (It's less than an hour's drive) and if they are, will definitely bring some home.
As always, thanks Marc

I truly hope so, but remember juvenile intermedia are always described as black with with spots.....
I had already thought of the background fish to be an auchenipterid, yet for some reason I had rather suspected
than C. perugiae. Seems to big for perugiae. So don't forget to lift up the piece of wood while you are there. Who knows?

The fish are a private sale, so I doubt that there is anything as unusual as that...but as you say, who knows.
Yes, I will go and see the the galaxias first before any money changes hands, and if required I'll post pics to confirm if I'm really not sure.
Thanks Marc
