Catfish on road signs

I wonder where else besides the Tokyo metropolitan area would one find a catfish on a road sign.

Of course, the association of a catfish with earthquakes is deeply entrenched in Japanese lore.

One could imagine that in relevant areas, just like having "Frog (toad) warning", you could have "Walking catfish warning" for where they frequently cross road.

We just get death, devastation and horror through universal symbols on our road signs. I'd rather have a catfish, thank you.

Must be more out there somewhere?

LNB: technically, none of those qualify as "road-signs" in the proper sense. The one from Wisconsin is close, but not quite there either.

Sure, there are PLENTY of signs by the road with catfish on them. But it's to advertise a place that has something to do with catfish, not as a "road information sign" like those that tell you that "no vehicles over a certain height/weight", "if you follow this road, you'll get to <some placename>", etc.

Ahh, you're so right, they're just signage. No catfish roadsigns around here. Only folklore here wrt catfish is verbal and it symbolizes wisdom not earthquakes so you won't find a Wisdom Warning sign on a road. Unfortunately.

But I still like the signage above.

Rephrase: Hmm, none here, anyone else?

I tried googling "Catfish Row" (as in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess) but no luck in finding a sign. I guess it isn't a real street. I did find this one, though:

If anyone would like an essay on the Japanese earthquake catfish artwork, there's this interesting read:

It's amazing what we can find cruising the internet! :-)

Great resurrection post! There are quite a few catfish road signs to be had including a Claris-Xing one, and my Catfish Boulevard too: viewtopic.php?p=149362#p149362

While it's no longer in operation, I also have a catfish parking sign - will post a picture here if anyone wishes.

Cheers,

Jools

:) Nice! Great job Jools! Professionally made aluminum sign too, not a doodle on paper... You go length for the bluff to look credible haha...

I should have mentioned it's in my garage, where we park the cars, so it's pretty much an o-fish-all road sign!

Ha, as close as it gets. Me being more brazzen and an experimentalist, I'd try posting it at the entrance of my driveway on a pole. I love a flashy, good scene, haha...
