I don't know where to put this...

Do anyone knows when the translation of Catfish Atlas 2 is finished?
I really looking forward for this book!

It seems to imply that the translation is finished, but the book is not yet in print. I'm not sure what they are waiting for... And I have no direct contact with anyone involved in the production/translation/etc of the book [other than sitting at the same table at the CSG conference as Mary Bailey, who I believe is doing/did the translation work - but we never discussed that particular subject].

You don't have to be a Catfish expert to translate a piece of work. I think it would be economical to have one person (a professional translator) doing it, instead of two. Besides the original authors would be expected to do it for nothing and as you well know they do not have the luxury of unlimited free time.

That may be right, but you will have to know a fair deal about fish in general, otherwise a few thikg will definitely become rather silly translated

I've translated for 6 years, I think I may claim a little experience in this

And I know Mary Bailey has translated a HUGE number of books, and no matter if it's catfish or something else, she has a huge knowledge of fishkeeping in general, and the ability to express the original authors meaning in English.

If this book is as good as catfish atlas 1 it is probably worth buying and translating yourself...who knows how long it will be until it is printed in english. I am seriously thinking that I should just buy it and stumble my way through the german ! I think it would be worth it!

I'll have to buy a new copy anyway. I've written a lot of the translations next to the German. "They spin around and around like a bicycle wheel and then deposit the eggs in a cave...." seems to appear a few times. It'll be interesting to see if I got it correct. Sort of like a crossword puzzle, but waiting a few years for the answer key.

That should be in the introductory part of Pseudacanthicus, at least that´s what I remember that from. Sounds a little bumpy to my eyes (just as you guys likely think about some of my english translations), but seems like you got the idea..

I'm really looking forward to buy the Wels-Atlas 2, 2nd edition, in German or English, I don't care.

I already have the Wels-Atlas vol. 1-2 in German and those are great books, full of usefull informations on genus, and species, and biotopes, and... and...

sure it would be easier for me in English, but nevertheless, I use them in German the same...

another crucial question : when will the 2nd edition be available ?
