Hello, I bought these fish from one of my local dealers yesterday & they had no idea what they were but the price i thought was right so I got them.I was thinking they were some type of Lizard cat or whiptail.Another one of my local guys seems to think they might be juvinile Royal Farawalla but they dont have the long nose of a Farawalla. The best Ive heard so far is Either an LG6 or LG4. Can some one give me a positive ID & possibly how to sex them . Thanks.

They are a bit too long-nosed for LG6 I think. Their eyes are very big too.

I would say so. They tend to be rather sharp nosed while young. Could be one in a whole slew of rineloricaria classified fish that look quote similar, as well.

I will let the Loricariidae experts here, deal with this question.
I get lost on identifying them
however:
how to sex them
Adult male whip tails species; have adontodes on their pectoral fin spines and cheeks, although these are more evident when the male is in breeding condition.
On juvenile Sterisoma panamense these can be felt, if ones finger is gentle stroked over the cheeks.
(BTW my S panamense have just hatched

)
