These are tough to differentiate at a young age, as they get bigger it gets easier to tell the difference

if they're small but not tiny the most obvious feature to check is the tail - genuine decora have horizontal multiple barring. Hybrids mostly (but not always) have the black "V" shape like multipunctata. The problem arises that this is dependent upon the species used to create the hybrid - ie multipunctata x decora produces the syno 'valentine' (hybrid sp.5) - if the parents are decora x Another a subtly different hybrid can be achieved

Aside from the already given advice: The dorsal fin extension is clearly visible at 3" or so.
