CLOG: Image any good show sexual dimorphism in Bunocephalus?

Whilst trying to find an ID for an unusual coloured Bunocephalus, I tried to get some pictures to help the process (see viewtopic.php?f=13&t=28038. It has been tentatively ID'd as , and so understand that the image shouldn't be assigned to that species, but thought it could be useful to show possible sexual dimorphism in the species. Steve (The.Dark.One) did think it is possible that this is the case, and so I guess if it cannot be confirmed as a feature, then the image is of no use, but it is a clear shot of the underside of the fish and so thought it might be of use in the cat-eLog, though not sure where...

Obviously will email over the original if needed, but just thought I'd suggest it and go from there.

I would use the picture for sure but as we don't know the species, then we can't use it.

Hi Jools. I'm as sure as I can be (never can be just using photos) but I think this is B. columbianus, based on the appearance, body shape, anal fin ray count, and length of the posterior processes of the coracoid.

Yes, the anal fin looks "right", so yes, let's use this but is it a male or a female? :-)

Well, my thought was male due to the extended genital papillae, but Steve wasn't sure if this was a 'feature' of asprenids or not.

This is with me now. I will add it as I get round to it (I _TRY_ to add pictures in the order I get them, otherwise I can't quite keep track, and there are still some Syno pictures ahead in the queue).

Perhaps by the weekend.

Thanks to Martin who reminded me - for some reason the e-mail thread ended up in the "already done" folder in my e-mail - which was not right, as I hadn't actually done it...

A bump from me, especially as this fish sadly passed away at the tail end of last year.

Ihat's odd! I'm sure when I looked earlier, it wasn't there (which was why i bumped it!) Must be going mad!
Sorry Mats, this can be moved to resolved now.
Thanks
