Based on chance, it could be a
, but I think there are other species that could reach 5" that could be called a bumblebee catfish. At the very least, I'm pretty sure
species don't get that large, so that knocks them out.

Just a guess, could be a
or similar as well.
But as said there are a few fish that sometimes go under the bumblebee name.

Sorry. Meant to include photos. Apparently they are larger than the allowable file size.
He is not an asian bumblebee. He has a rounded head and a large, forward facing mouth. He is light brown with multiple, irregular bands of dark brown and clear, striped fins.
If I can figure out how to reduce the size of the pics I will do so and include.
Thanks again.

He could be a nicely marked specimen of b. raninus. He is very similar in build to the fish in the above picture, though with more light brown than dark.

Thanks Martin. That is what he is.
Can't imagine what kind of beast he'll be at 10".

Glad we got there, I don't think they are quick to grow to those sizes, but as you have found, a voracious predator at any size. You'll just have to be careful on the size of his tankmates as he grows.
Good luck

Oh i would agree with that appatite point. I had my brother pick up the recent order of microglanis sp. that I had my LFS order for me and throw them into one of my microglanis tanks, thinking it would add to the genepool. Well one of these guys was in with the other 10 microglanis and lets say I have a tank now with one fish in it
