Acanthodoras polygramma senior synonym of A. spinosissimus
Note to self (or anyone interested) that this needs a look. Info., from Mark Sabaj. No idea where polygramma comes from as yet.

From Doras polygramma Kner, 1853. Allegedly it was based on the drawing of a swimbladder only, but Sabaj states he has two syntypes. He's probably published/publishing something on it.

I would e-mail Mark directly if you don't think it's clear what it's about, he's very good at answering e-mails. Catalog of Fishes shows it as "Species inquirenda" in Acanthodoras.

Yup, I'm in contact with MS about it. Just a note to self so that I don't lose track of it.

Re: Acanthodoras polygramma senior synonym of A. spinosissimus
Resurrection is often a good thing. After finding a new article mentioning A. cf. polygramma, I searched for images of A. polygramma and found this photo from Karsten Schoenherr: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/63423176. Notice in the comments section, Mark Henry Sabaj commented that this is Acanthodoras polygramma.
Now I'm looking at and wondering if that's A. polygramma. Thoughts?
And reaffirming the OP of this thread, the 2021 paper by Mark and Mariangeles Arce H. has this:

Cheers,The status of (Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1888) as a valid species or a synonym of A. polygrammus remains uncertain.

It could be, but we need more info on what (aside from swim bladder) can differentiate these species. That photo was taken in Japan more than 20 years ago. They are young fish but there are several of them so not a one-off colour morph, I have no collection locale.
