Pedanticisms on new COTM article...

First of all, I'm allergic to the use of & in text instead of the word "and".

Second, there seem to be a bit of italic in the text that should be "normal" in the bit that talks of the distribution.

I was editing it as you posted this. I have removed Richard love affair with the ampersand and also tidied up a couple of grammtial errors. I am sure it is not perfect, but it is now out there!

It's a nice article too. Short and sweet.

Still some ampersands in there, around the area where it talks about barbel length.

And isn't Claroteid meant to be capitalized?

Richard: Nice article.

Yup, good point, was working in HTML view and they are a little hard to see. Sorted.

No, Claroteidae (the family) should be capitalized, a claroteid species should not.

Really appreciate the criticism, I move too quickly sometimes on to the next thing.

I know, I do that all the time myself - reading some older posts [where I actually have to read the text to remember what I wrote], and I spot loads of errors all over the place... It's usually "the wrong word" or missing/additional letters...

I actually also looked at this and I couldn't see a defn in the OED. Pedantism appears to be the term that should be used in plural?

although the pictures of that particular Clarotes are very good and the specimen looks very healthy; please be aware that this individual is showing severe stunted growth;

it can be compared by other clarotes in the Clog; i've also encountered this species in the trade and it's definitely more elongated when in normal shape

this fish isn't a "Balloonfish", but getting close, it looks like a head with a tail.

despite it being quite healthy and very well-photographed; not a good example of how Clarotes is supposed to look.

OK, well the CotM article just takes whatever the first picture of a species is for the first picture on the article page. So, once I get it working, I will need to change the order of the photos for that species to show another one.

Actually, I don't really know Jools. It was an (apparently unfunny) attempt at a pedantry joke :(. I was being pedantic you see...

I can find several references on the web (but none of them what I would describe as authoratative) that suggest they may be interchangeable.

Yes, the irony about being pedantic about being pedantic was not lost on me... ;-)
