I bought an established tank about 2 months ago and today I noticed one of the bristnose's had a big white patch on about half of his head. Anybody know what this is, I was thinking it might be the first stage of Hole in the head? :P

I've never, to date, seen a pleco with hole in the head or lateral line erosion. You should definitely look into treating him with an antibiotic, as it sounds like he might have a bacterial infection. The sooner the better. You also shouldn't treat the main tank, but move him into a quarantine tank.

I assume when you say it was an established tank, that you moved all of the water along with the filters and such when you purchased it?

The lady I bought the tank from was getting out of the hobby, so she let me have the tank with all the fish for $150. Its a 75 gal with about 40 fish. As for the fish in question I put him in a 10 gal tank and am treating him with melafix. When I bought the tank we brought about 45 galloons of the original water the origiinal filters etc. I hope the Melafix works though Id hate to lose any fish!! :x
