Since they are "in partnership with www.planetcatfish.com", can anyone here tell me who to get in touch with regarding my account on zebrapleco.com? Trying to log in but the site has a bunch of issues. The only thing I can get to come up is a message saying my account is currently inactive. Wondering if it has anything to do with my last post:
http://www.zebrapleco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5649

I found an old post on here giving rob @ zebra.com as a contact but don't know if that's still current.

Thanks

Hi YSR50
When I try to access it from mine and other computers I get no luck all I get is its an attack site and blocked.
I would think that Rob is the only one that can sort it out and he has not been on for years maybe another mod from Zebrapleco.com might see this and chip in with an answer.

Its a good site for info and would be a shame if lost.

I looked at the "whois" record for zebrapleco.com, and it seems like it changed owners in the last few days - I'm not sure if someone bought it from Rob, or if Rob forgot to renew it, and some company thought it was a good opportunity to grab it...

Yes, quite likely. Does anyone know where Rob lives/works? I've found some more info on who owns the domain...

I tried to register a while back and it would not accept any of my valid emails, so essentially it seemed they didn't want any new members so I gave up after emailing admins 3x with no response. :?:

As one of the mods on zp.cpm I was feeling frustrated as the mods could do nothing about the problems, only the owner could. He was busy and had been "ignoring" the site for a while but has finally reappeared. I know he is working to try and solve the problems and to insure the site does not simply fade away like another big pleco site recently has.

I highly doubt the site is an attack site. I simply go there using IE 6 instead of Firefox and its a non issue. However, any site needs hands on maintenance and management from the technical side if it is to run reasonably smoothly most of the time. Problems with registrations etc are due to that part of things being lax recently and hopefully are fixed, close to fixed or about to be fixed.

If nothing else these sort of site problems should go a long way to making all of us ordinary users/members at such sites appreciate just how much work and knowledge, not to mention money, it takes to keep place like this one up and running smoothly. PC and all of the myriad other good aquarium related sites exist because of the dedication and effort of a few individuals.

For this reason I urge those of you who can to donate either your time and/or money to help keep those sites you use up and running.

I spoke with Rob at length yesterday and I will be looking into if I can the problem. If I can, then won't be a quick fix, rather a reverse of the tide but what I might be able to do is remove the technical issue and put the work back at the feet of the patient team of mods.

I have already been a little busy. :-) While the site is up, it's with the default forum style and with a horrible amount of manual handwritten pages that need dealt with. It's up, it's up on a virtual private server, increased security, but it needs a serious facelift.

It's good be working to ensure the future of the site.

Unfortunately, I've tried yet again to contact the admins to activate my account and still have no response. I've been emailing [email protected]. Should I be contacting someone else? I cannot re-register as it says I'm registered (name and email).

AV redirect is where the web page suggests you run a free virus scan but actually does something ugly. I am cleaning that kind of stuff up.
