Hi all.

Just a quick question.
How do i add pictures to here?
Or rather where do i add them?

I have some pictures in jpeg format of some of my Cats that I could add but have also received a few requests for pictures of a new arrival that I'd like to post on here.

Cheers
Rob

Under the box where you type your text, there is a tabbed box. One tab is "upload attachment"

Once you have selected the "upload attachment", you can browse your computer for the file you want to upload. Once you have found the file you want to upload, click the "add file". It takes a few seconds to upload an image, then you get a list of the file(s) you have uploaded and a "place inline" and "delete" button. "place inline" will put the image into the post (otherwise, you get smaller images for the reader to click to see the full size).

There is a limit to the size, so it's best if you can reduce the size of the image to about 800 pixels on the longest side [although the limit is bigger than that, if the image is too big, it gets messy on the screen, so 800 is a good size].

As well as reducing the width/height of the image, I would also recommend people use the "save for web" function, which dramatically reduces the byte size of the file, and thus the upload/download time.

A good, free program that does all these things as well as cropping etc is IrfanView.

:D

Good point. Save for web is available in IrfanView and PhotoShop. If your photoeditor doesn't have this, set your "quality" to about 75% - this will give good images with relatively small size. (Save for web also removes the image-metadata (EXIF - this is info stored by the camera when the photo is saved, such as time/date, camera settings ), but that's really a small part for any larger size images - it will only really make a difference when using tiny JPEG's for icons and such).
