I wouldn't have thought of Birds as being much of a predator of plecos. Good post.

Could have been more prickly - after all, it's a Pterygoplichthys, not a Pseudacanthicus or Leporacanthicus...
And as PlecoCrazy says, it's a bit unusual bird-food. I'm sure it happens, and it's been known in North America that birds suffocate/starve to death after choking on Plecos. I expect part of that is that they haven't evolved together, so the birds don't have an built-in "don't eat these" or "prevent myself from choking" mechanism.
