I have had these Pseudohemiodons for some time and I have some youngsters to pass to new homes. These were sold as P. apithanos but I would like to be certain before I sell them. What you think?

I think it may be - the key difference to is the markings in the light colouration, the "marbled" form has irregular pattern in the light sections, where the apithanos has no, or at least much less, marbled markings in the light area.

But do please wait for someone else to confirm this, as I'm not 100% sure.

I'd agree with Mats and I've bred these too.

There seems to be quite a difference in head shape between the two species. Rounded vs. straight.

Should this post not be in "What is my catfish", or the loricariid forum?

Good points.
As to the head-shape, it would, therefore, help to have an overhead shot of these.

As to the placement of the fish: I've moved it - it's a bit borderline, but you are right, it's about the ID of the fish.

Edit: Now moved, as per suggestion above.

Incidentaly, I am not 100% sure the marbled species isn't a Dentectus sp.
