While shoping at a new fish store I ran across a catfish ,It was lite gray in color with a large blunt head and big lips .The young man in charge said it was a rubberlip or rubber nose cat fish.He did not have a proper name for it because it came in on a messed up order .Has anyone got any ideas ?

Sounds from the description as a
(rubberlip), and yes, they often come in as "assorted" or "mixed" species lots to the shops, because they are not high value, and many are similar.
They like fast flowing, cooler water, as they live on the slopes of mountains, where the water come down from the higher, cooler levels.

They are characters! Most are cool water catfish. Unless you can keep your water lower than 75 degrees F with high oxygen levels(powerheads), they might be an issue in Florida. They can keep the tank's glass clean, even when situated near indirect sun. Active at all hours, constantly feeding. They will climb into anything for a tidbit of food, including a hang-on-back filter.

Thanks .
My water temp. has been a struggle this summer ,some times reaching 96 deg.f. I am floating ice bags in the tank to keep it down.Out side air temp has been 100+ this year and my tank in on a screened porch.
They are a neet fish just not for me.
