Hi all, I just decided it was time to share all my excitement. I'm pretty new to comps but I have been keeping and breeding many species of fish for over 45 years now. :foggie:
It has been a rough go for me these last 7 yrs. I had a tumor removed from my Pancreaes and lost 90 lbs. of my skinny package during that first 7 week ordeal from hell. Then I was diagnosed with a orange sized tumor on my brain 5 yrs ago. They removed it but left me with a bone infection that proseeded to rot out my skull(RF1/4), and I had a second surgery to remove whole right side of my skull. I stayed that way; looking litteraly like someone dropped a bowling balll on me for 1 yr. Then 2 yrs ago my incredable Neuro Surgon replaced my skull with titanium and acrylic. God left me enough marbles to function with and I am sort of healthy now. I relate all this to you to give you hope; nothing can keep a real fish nut down for long.
I was hooked on plecos from the day that my first BNs babys showed their little faces about 2 yrs ago, just after my last surgery. I started researching these awesome little fish and some of their relatives. They are almost sureal, I knew what I had to do; I started saving. I can no longer work as a carpenter anymore and live on disability; I hate it man.
It has taken me a while but I converted all my 440gals. - 9 tanks (in my livingroom no less)into species tanks for rio Xingu and area Ancistrus.
I am so TANKFULL to anounce that I now have
11 wild L046 Hypan zebra in a 135 river tank.
7 wild L066 Hypan King tiger in a 65 river tank with 12 Cory sterbae.
5 wild L204 Panaque and 12 Cory reticulatus in a 135 custom back eddy tank.
My BNs are stuck in a 4' 30 gal until I can build them a new 90. I must have a hundred babys in there at all diff ages; so cool. My male presents me with a new school about every 7-8 weeks. I also have 6 30 gal fry tanks all ready to go.
I have plans to add another 5 tanks - 700 gallons and 4 more species in 2011.
So, a bit much info maybe for 1st post but I am just extremely excited.

Welcome to Planet Catfish.

Sounds like you've really had quite an ordeal... Glad to see you get through it with some quality of life still there.

 You bet but be forwarned. I am a lousey pic taker with a realn cheap camra. The other problem has been in getting them comfortable enough for pic day. Most of my fish are wild and very timid, they love their tanks and I rarely see them myself. I wil DMB.

Another left coast Canucker. Are you on BCAquaria.com? Lots of pleco nuts there too. Where did you source your wild caught fish?

Sounds like a lot of the catfish out there, yours are no exception :D they seem to recognize what a camera is as well and seem to disappear before one even starts shooting.

Another Canadian to welcome
You're an inspiration to lots of us and with your carpenter's brain still happening, you're obviously a good judge of top notch aquarium stands. A nice bonus.
