Hi all,

I finally dug out a paper that I knew I had which provides information regarding the size attained by and wanted to pass it along for inclusion in the Cat-eLog. It reaches quite a larger size than is therein noted. Based on a collection of 48 individuals of this species the largest size recorded was 350 mm SL (13.8 inches).

The reference is as follows: "Aspectos da biologia de Tocantinsia piresi " by F. M. Carvalho and E. K. de Resende. 1984. Amazoniana, 8 (3): 327-337.

Hi all,

Oops! I was just able to come up with a somewhat larger size for T. piresi. The maximum size for this species, provided in the publication below, is noted to be 365 mm SL (14.4 inches).

Well, we've changed it from 100mm to 350mm, so adding another 15mm isn't that much of a difficulty. I'll update again!

Edit: Upddate done.

Any chance those papers have an etymology explaining who "piers" is that it's named after, or any interesting information on diet, habitat, etc?
