I have some akysis longifilis in a speciemen container acclimating to the 20 long ( like the ones you see in the stores ) and I noticed alot of water splash noises from the tank...so I investigate and find that the akysis longifilis can CLIMB....big shock to me but the four of them were climb about an eighth of an inch up the side of the container above the water level ( thank goodness it was in the tank adjusting the water. One of them almost made it out of the container the water level was about 1 to 1 1/2 inches below the edge of the container.

Just thought I would share this very interesting fact

there must be something very wrong with the water if they do that!

usually Akysis goes straight for the bottom and buries itself

if they try to escape like this the waterquality, oygenlevels or pollution must be very bad.

It may also be due to them being stressed or frightened. Make sure you have something in that gives them something to hide in or under.

I think they prefer old/mature water. I always 'create' a few caves when my fish are in quarantine so they can hide and are at ease.
