We should really put this in the FAQ...
Quoting Jools from an earlier post:
cichlid because it's a swear word! ;-)

hello fishara i never thought to ask that question about the cichlid thing. i assumed because this is a US web site and everyone is a catfish fan that the moderators are sick of hearing about cichlids because it's pretty big side of the hobby where you are. is that right? In the uk most people dont know what a cichlid is even though they own a couple.

Not it's not. Jools is as Scottish as they come.
But really, the site's a lot more international in nature.

Now where is that picture of Jools consuming large portions of haggis for breakfast?

Quite a few of the members (and moderators) actually keep and breed cichlids...

Just bought an old house in the country, been here a year and no problems so far, but I'll be getting a Generator for the winter just in case! Don't fancy sitting up all night heating water up and putting it in a coke bottle.

Eric, excuse my ignorance, but where is Bay area, sanfransico?

Yup, we've got 1 Scot (yours truly), East and West Coast USA'ers (and one wandering around Colombia), several English, one Swiss (and I have invited more Europeans in the past) and then there is Silurus (who has a distribution range similar in size to the Ariidae) as your admin / moderator team.

The site is a .com as they are cheaper and (used) to get better search engine coverage. It's also easier to remember / type.

The site is hosted on a computer in Los Angeles, California but run out of my study in Bathgate, West Lothian.

 Oh, Hi Eric, welcome on board. :D

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Doctorzeb, yes I live near San Francisco. I do keep cichlids, barbs, rainbowfish, and tetras as well as catfish. Then there is my reef tank. I just love being a fish enthusiast. :D
