ID Pterygoplichthys scrophus? (Rhino Pleco)

Hi,

I have purchased this pleco from my LFS who first had it identified as a Lizard Pleco. I told them that it looks more like a Rhino Pleco and then one of the staff advised that it was mislabeled and it was a Rhino Pleco (Pterygoplichthys scrophus).

He shows some characteristics of a Rhino, large nasal flutes and alligator type ridges found along the sides of the body.

Here is one of the best pictures that I can get so far of him and hope with this that it is confirmed as a Rhino. His length at this time is about 5 inches from snout to end of tail.

Thank you,
Groovylad

Thank you very much for the positive ID Silurus.

I am extremely happy as I have been looking for a long time for a Rhino Pleco but due to our winter here in Ontario, Canada alot of lfs were telling me that later in the spring is when they will start to get more non-typical pleco's...
