10 gallon?

Curious about a ten gallon tank that someone I know has.....

She's got a swarm of black kuhli loaches (6-7, hard to count them!), plus 7 pygmy cories....and 3 albino peppered cories. The tank is very planted, with handfuls of hornwort, and java moss growing like nuts. Filter is an AC150, I think.

Is this tank a bomb waiting to go off? I think she does something like 40% water changes a week.

If you follow the one inch per gallon rule, it would seem like she was way over. I am not sure how big kuhli's get, but if they are anything like clowns then that tank is not big enough for one. It also seems like there are a lot of bottom dwellers, perhaps she needs something for the middle and upper layer.

I do know that kuhlis get around 4 inches....and that the inch of fish per gallon of water rule really isn't the best way to tell of overstocking.

I think her pygmy cories are corydoras hasterus (sp!)....they tend to be mid-dwellers.....

All of those fish in a 10 gallon would be a definite recipe for disaster, if it wasn't planted. The additional ammonia converting power that the plants have probably keep her water parameters well within range. I'd say the lights going out for a few days or a filter failure of even a few hours could wreak havoc with it though.

Just talked with her, and she is removing the pygmy cories.....think she'll be okay with what she has left?
