That's a gorgeous fish Saul, never seen anything like it. Be interesting to see what the experts reckon.

Yes very pretty.

Fell in love first time I saw them.
I've noticed they are also bigger then any other Corydora I've seen.

Sure is, and quite territorial as well..
Most of the "longsnoute" are very territorial, if not kept in a big tank, you`l end up with one male...
I`w seen them use they're pectorals as "razorblades" splitting other males open...

Are they wild Saul? No chance of them being hybrids?

Just wondering Birger. The pattern is like but the body shape and long nose is wrong. There's nothing I can see with that body shape and nose with anything like the same pattern.

I have to agree with Birger. It is definitely one of the fowleri types, my vote is for C. coriate. These types are very difficult to get an id on due to the variable patterns that they can have.

They are labelled as CW051 "Longnose". Most likely new species. I believe Corydoras World is considering giving it a new CW number.

I would have to think that in order for a new CW number much better photos and collection info would be needed. None of the photos that I have seen make me believe it is a new species. The photos that I have seen are all in a clear container and therefore the fish are "washed out". I am certain that if put into a nice, natural looking tank the fish would settle, color up, and prove to be either C. semiaquilus or C. coriate. just my .02...

I really don't think so. They look entirely new to me - but hey, I'm never correct. lol. - Frank

They could be something new, but what I am basing my guess on is the faint banding that is visible on the dorsal fin along with the dark vertical stripe below the eye. The last thing that I see is the dark band that extends through the body and through the base of the caudal peduncle into the lower tail. I know that cories can lighten or darken their pattern depending what substrate they are on or if they are stressed. Couple this with the fact that both semiaquilus and coriatae can be quite variable in their pattern and that is why I am guessing coriatae. I will admit that, yes I could be wrong. If collection info was available this would be quite helpful. Either way it appears to be a not so common fish, as Corydorasworld does not list any keepers for C. coriatae. Nice fish either way!

Personally I would say that they are a colour form of C. semiaquilus, certainly not CW051 long nose.
